Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration
By Emeric Switch

Introduction
Transfiguration
When Transfiguring, it is important to make firm and decisive wand movements. Do not wiggle or twirl your wand unnecessarily, or the Transfiguration will certainly be unsuccessful.
Form a clear mental picture of the object you are hoping to create before attempting a Transfiguring spell.
Beginners should say the spell clearly. More advanced wizards do not need to say the spell aloud.
Incomplete Transfigurations are difficult to put right, but you must attempt to do so. Leaving the head of a rabbit on a footstool is irresponsible and dangerous.
Larger creatures are difficult to Transfigure except by skilled and powerful wizards. Know your limits.

Reparifarge
Chapter 1
Reparifarge is the incantation of an untransfiguration spell. It is a general spell used to counter the effects of a Transformation spell that was poorly performed and only partially Transfigured the object in question. The image on the left is the hand movement needed to cast this spell.
Avifors
Chapter 2
"Transfiguration is some of the most difficult magic to practise effectively. It is extremely difficult, for example, to transform something non-living into something that is alive. However, mastering a transfiguration spell such as 'Avifors', which will transform small inanimate objects into birds, can be both rewarding and useful."
β Miranda Goshawk regarding this spell
From Latin "avis", meaning "bird", with the -fors suffix attached.
The Avifors Spell can, at times, be a very complicated spell and some beginning Hogwarts students are known to struggle with it. One student nearly failed the class when he proved unable to transform objects into anything more than eggs. His cousin bragged about this.
"My cousin had trouble with Avifors. He could only turn things into eggs. He was popular at breakfast time but he nearly failed the class."
